The First Warrior
When I was 16, Becca, my best friend who had just turned 18, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. While most girls were trying on prom dresses, she faced surgeries, seizures, radiation and chemo with unbelievable courage—and never once complained.
Instead, she inspired. When there were no teen cancer support groups, Becca started one in our living room. She listened to others, she cared for everyone, she led us all. Becca went from being my best friend to my hero.
